RED DIARY: LOVE DIARY

SEASON 1, EPISODE 1 (PILOT)

Somewhere in a modern duplex in GRA Benin, Edo state, the lovely Mudiaga family is having dinner. Seated at the table is the head of the family, Mike Mudiaga, his wife Eguonor, his soon to be sixteen year old daughter Daro and eight year old son Julius. They were having rice and a certain Chinese sauce Eguonor had been experimenting with lately. Then Daro says "Mum, something really weird happened in school today", her mum replies "What happened sweetie?", "We were made to take some blood tests during our biology class and it turns out I am B negative and my genotype is AS. How is that even possible? I remember you and dad are both O positive and AA from the time you donated blood when Julius was ill. They must have made a mistake" Daro said. She noticed her parents exchanging an uncomfortable look when she said that, then her dad said the most shocking thing "It’s no mistake dear", "not now Mike" Eguonor quickly cut in, "When then? She has to know, eventually" Mike says, "Let’s wait till after her birthday party then" Eguonor replied, Daro was getting more confused by the second and her facial expression affirmed her feelings, "What are you talking about? Was I adopted?" she asked, "no sweetie, you were not adopted" her mother assures "i carried you in my womb for nine months", "So what are you hiding from me then?" Daro fires back at her, "finish your food sweetie" her mother replies in that uncompromising motherly tone, "I just lost my appetite and there isn’t going to be a birthday party unless you tell me what you are hiding" Daro stands up and leaves the dinner table, her little brother Julius following her closely behind. Eguonor says to Mike "thanks for ruining dinner Mike, you couldn’t have chosen a better time", "It isn’t my fault our daughter is becoming wiser" Mike says in his defense, "my daughter you mean?" Eguonor says with venom. Mike stares at Eguonor coldly and stands up, leaving her alone at the dinner table. Eguonor holds her head in her hands and curses under her breath "damn, I could have handled that better". To be continued...
