An American woman feeds her daughter with tapeworm.

A woman in America has attracted outrage after she fed her daughter a pill filled with tapeworm eggs. The young girl got sick and was taken to a hospital where it was suspected that she was carrying a baby. However when she got to the hospital, it was discovered that her belly was full of worms. The girl was reportedly supposed to participate in a beauty pageant and her mother was trying to get her in shape. Tapeworms eat food from inside the stomach. The mother apologized to her daughter but it is not clear if she faced any sanctions for the action. Some Nigerians would refer to this act as witch craft. Updates on Ebola; Two new Ebola cases in Lagos

The new patients are said to have contracted the disease as a result of secondary contact There are now 2 new confirmed cases of Ebola in Nigeria, bringing the total recorded in the country to 14. This was disclosed by the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu today, August 22, 2014. The new patients are said to be spouses of two others who made primary contact with Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, who brought the disease into the country. The duo are the first secondary contacts to be infected with the disease in Nigeria. Ebola has claimed the lives of 5 patients who tested positive including the index case, Patrick Sawyer.

Updates on Ebola; A woman slumps and dies in Ekiti.

A woman in Ekiti is said to have lost her life after rumours spread that she had contracted Ebola. The unfortunate victim showed symptoms of the disease and was thus rejected by 4 hospitals due to fear. This was revealed by the Commissioner for Health, Professor Olusola Fasuba who said that the woman in question eventually collapsed at the State Ministry of Health and died. The Commissioner warned citizens of the state to desist from branding people as Ebola patients as it could lead to the death of innocents who don’t have the disease. Fasuba stated further that other illnesses have similar symptoms as Ebola.
