PARENTS OF CHIBOK GIRLS PERFORM FUNERAL RITES FOR THE MISSING GIRLS

Image
Parents of the kidnapped Chibok school girls have said they want the matter closed. It has been four months since the unfruitful search for the abducted girls; as a result they have presumed the girls are dead. This position was disclosed yesterday by the #BringOurGirls advocacy group, during its daily sit-out meeting for the rescue of the missing school girls at Unity Fountain, Abuja. The parents said they presumed the students to have died for which their funeral rites have already been performed in their (parents’) minds according to their custom. They, however, urged the federal government bring the girls’ corpses for honorable burial. “All they said they want is their corpses to bury them honorably,” the group said. While calling on federal government to double its effort to free the girls, the meeting said only political and military action can rescue our girls, and that is why we do what we are doing to compel that. The group added a new slogan #NotWithoutOurDaughters!...

Updates on Ebola: Last Ebola-free Region of Liberia, Falls Into Ebola

MONROVIA(AFP) – Every region of Liberia has now been hit by Ebola, officials said Friday, as the World Health Organization warned the fight against the worst-ever outbreak of the killer disease would take months. After seeing people fall to the deadly virus in area after area, Liberia said two people had succumbed to the virus in Sinoe province, the last Ebola-free bastion in a country that has seen the biggest toll with 624 deaths. The virus has spread relentlessly through Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, and Nigeria has also been affected despite showing some progress in fighting the epidemic, which has killed 1,427 people since March. “(Sinoe) was the last area untouched by Ebola,” George Williams, head of the Health Workers Association of Liberia, told AFP. The country has witnessed chaotic scenes in recent days following a surge in the number of patients dying of the hemorrhagic fever. Aid workers said crematoriums in the capital of Monrovia were struggling to deal...

An unnamed source told vanguard; "yes some Boko Haram terrorists invaded Pulka and killed many innocent people and destroyed a lot of houses before hoisting their flags in different locations of Pulka. We, the people of GWoza are very worried with the state of killings and destruction by terrorists without military or security agencies confronting them" "The terrorists are now having a field ...
